Sonja Triplett, MSN, CNM

Sonja brings a wealth of diverse experiences and a commitment to holistic care. Originating from Germany and shaped by her upbringing in Texas, she merges her Master of Science in Nurse Midwifery with a Bachelor’s in English and French, blending healthcare with an appreciation for languages and culture.

Her path to midwifery was sparked by the core values of the profession: advocacy, empowerment & reproductive justice. From serving as a volunteer doula in 2014 to embarking on adventures as a travel nurse in captivating locations like the Arctic Circle in Alaska. Sonja’s career has spanned specialties like psychiatric and memory care, as well as roles in naturopathic clinics, enriching her skills and perspective. Yet, it was the profound connections made while caring for hospice patients, holding space for such intimate transitions, that solidified her calling to midwifery.

Her dedication to volunteering led her to work at a birth center on the border of Mexico, where she fell in love with out-of-hospital birth. She also gained invaluable skills working as an L&D nurse in high-risk OB settings to rural environments where midwives were the primary providers.

Sonja appreciates the array of birthing options, but her passion lies in community settings, where women can embrace autonomy through a nurturing and well-informed approach. Her training at renowned hospitals like Adventist Health and Providence St. Vincent’s was invaluable, but it was her time at a freestanding birth center that marked a pivotal “coming home” moment in her career.

Now, she eagerly brings her compassionate care to Bella Vie, extending beyond traditional midwifery to include gentle IUD insertions using nitrous and offering PRP for women’s intimate health concerns. She also provides limited 1st & 3rd-trimester ultrasound scans, contributing to the comprehensive care she provides clients.

In her free time, Sonja treasures moments spent with her partner, friends, and family. Her favorite activities include hiking with her two labradors, crocheting, reading, and being a plant mom.
