Samantha McClain
Postpartum Provider, Birth Assistant, Doula
Samantha McClain originally found her passion for midwifery at age 14 by watching an out-of-hospital birth on TV, leading her to pursue extensive self-study and later formal education. She is currently working towards her Bachelor of Science and Certified Professional Midwife (CPM) certification at Mercy In Action College of Midwifery. As a very experienced and proficient birth assistant, she has attended hundreds of births and taken care of as many families postpartum.
Since 2010, Samantha has been a DONA-trained doula, proficient in traditional Rebozo techniques and natural ultrasound/belly mapping. She has gained significant experience as a Birth Assistant and Postpartum Provider in various Oregon birth centers, working closely with community midwives.
A strong advocate for breastfeeding, Samantha has breastfed all her children and donated over 1,000 ounces of milk. She enjoys educating and assisting new mothers with breastfeeding and offers placental encapsulation and tincture making services to support postpartum healing.
In 2022, Samantha joined Bella Vie Gentle Birth Center as a Birth Assistant and Postpartum Provider, also assisting our practice with medical inventory and ordering. Her comprehensive training, personal experiences, and dedication to midwifery make her a compassionate and skilled provider, committed to exceptional care and support for families.
Samantha is married to her high school sweetheart and is the mother of their seven children. She has also been a surrogate twice. She spends much of her time outside of work homeschooling her kids, hiking, and whenever she gets the chance, riding horses at the beach.
